At the
Black Rock Holistic Health Center, we offer a holistic approach to the
treatment of acute and chronic pain.
The key to the holistic approach to treating health problems, such as
neck and back pain, disc herniation, muscle pain, headaches, and fatigue,
is to get to the root of what is the cause.
Listening to the patient is an important part of our approach to therapy.
Based on the patient feedback, we use alternative therapies, such as
chiropractic, acupuncture, homeopathy, and nutrition to re-establish the
patient's immune system and musculoskeletal health and balance.
At the Black Rock Holistic Health Center, we are certified in other
techniques such as Applied Kinesiology and Graston that complement the
other therapies we use.
Since each patient is unique, we tailor the therapy to the patient's
needs and sometimes combine more than one therapy to achieve a pain free
improved quality of life. |

Chiropractic
|
|
Chiropractic
medicine is a natural healing approach to help the body achieve
a healthier state of well-being. It is based on the premise that
good health depends upon a normally functioning nervous system. When the
impulses of the nervous system are uninterrupted, the body can function
normally. When there is an interference in the nerve supply,
malfunction begins. This means the body is being set up for disease.
The spinal cord and the brain are enclosed in a hard, bony structure.
Although the spine supports and protects the nerves, it can sometimes
interfere with the flow of nerve impulses.
The
Chiropractor will give you an ADJUSTMENT. This may also be known as
manipulation. The Chiropractor will give adjustments by hand. He or
she will apply pressure to those areas of the spine out of proper
alignment, or those areas that are not moving within their normal range.
The manipulations are not only of the spinal column, they may also include
the shoulders, jaw, elbows, feet, or knees.

Acupuncture
|
|
Acupuncture
is a treatment which can relieve symptoms of some physical and
psychological conditions and may encourage the patient's body to heal and
repair itself, if it is able to do so.
Acupuncture
stimulates the nerves in skin and muscle, and can produce a variety of
effects. We know that it increases the body's release of natural
painkillers - endorphin and serotonin - in the pain pathways of both the
spinal cord and the brain. This modifies the way pain signals are
received.
But
acupuncture does much more than reduce pain, and has a beneficial effect
on health. Patients often notice an improved sense of well-being after
treatment.
Modern
research shows that acupuncture can affect most of the body's systems -
the nervous system, muscle tone, hormone outputs, circulation, antibody
production and allergic responses, as well as the respiratory, digestive,
urinary, and reproductive systems.

Graston Technique
|
|
The Graston Technique, originally
developed by athletes, is changing the way clinicians and patients view treatment of acute and chronic soft
tissue injuries.
The
Graston Technique is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted
soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break
down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The Technique utilizes
specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically
detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or
chronic inflammation.
For the
patient, this mean:
• Decreases overall time of treatment
• Fosters faster
rehabilitation/recovery
• Reduces need for anti-inflammatory
medication
• Resolves chronic conditions thought
to be permanent

Kinesiology
|
|
Kinesiology
is a holistic system of natural health care which uses muscle monitoring
to communicate directly with the body. It can assess a person's response
to any stimulus.
It
draws on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and can evaluate
body function through the muscle-meridian relationship. It can also
establish connections between imbalances, put them in order of priority
and determine the most effective treatment.
Kinesiology
applies a wide range of gentle yet powerful techniques. These restore
balance and create and sustain health, well-being and more effective
functioning. Kinesiology also draws on and integrates other therapies and
healing modalities and can be used as an adjunct to any therapy.
Kinesiology
is renowned for being able to uncover and help the underlying causes of
health problems that are difficult to find by any other means.

Nutritional & Herbal Therapy
|

Nutrition
has a significant impact on how we feel. The lack of certain food supplements
can effect, among other, the healthy functioning of the endocrine,
cardiovascular, digestive, hepatic, respiratory, skeletal, renal, and
other physiological systems.
We
address this issues by offering both nutritional and herbal therapies with
lifestyle changes, education, awareness, and food supplements.
The
vitamins and herbal supplements available at our practice and online
through our nutrition link come from companies committed to the highest
quality supplements with a combined experience in the field of nutritional
supplements for more than 100 years.
